Is another financial planning firm really necessary?

In the months that preceded launching Ten Talents, this is a question that I asked myself more than once. Is another financial planning firm really necessary? Is launching another financial planning firm really needed in our modern age?

We have unprecedented access to investment tools through online robo-advisors and countless financial blogs. You can Google any financial question imaginable and get thousands of pages of results. Global giants such as Vanguard, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, etc. are staffed with thousands of advisor representatives waiting for your call. In addition, there are investment advisors with national and regional firms who work independently, putting your best interest first, with billions upon billions of assets managed on behalf of tens of thousands of clients.

Why in the world should an enterprising financial planner create another firm in the midst of this financial ocean of advice?

It’s a fair question. Why did I launch Ten Talents Financial Planning? Well, I believe that in the middle of all the technology, investment blogs, and name-brand firms, there is a group of individuals and families who are metaphorically screaming. They’re screaming for a professional, fiduciary, seek-my-family’s-best-interest-at-all-times, financial planner to help guide them down the twisting trail of financial decision-making and up the magnificent mountain of building true wealth.

But these people may not be millionaires. They may not command the attention of a traditional advisory firm. Let’s be real, these families may have a negative financial net worth due to student loan debt or countless other circumstances. No matter, their questions are real. Their decisions matter. The impact of these financial decisions will be felt for decades into their family’s future, for better or for worse.

Who is stepping up to serve these physicians, attorneys, business owners, and young professionals with financial questions that can’t be answered with a Google search? Who is connecting the dots between building wealth and seeking contentment as these professionals start reaping the financial rewards of their hard work?

The good news is that with the advent of financial planner networks like the XY Planning Network and Wealthramp, there has never been a better time to seek and find professional, fiduciary advice; especially if you don’t have millions to invest. Still, we’re talking about hundreds of financial planners and millions of families.

This is why I started Ten Talents Financial Planning. To serve those who aren’t currently being served by the financial planning profession. To serve those who don’t want to be sold more financial products. To serve regardless of financial net worth. To meet you where you’re at, and guide you down the trail and up the mountain.
